Story of Watsu
WATSU® (Water Shiatsu), began in the 1980s in a warm pool at Harbin Hot Springs, when Harold Dull started floating people while applying the stretches and principles of the Zen Shiatsu he had studied in Japan.
Over the years, with the help of countless others in courses, clinics, and spas around the world, Watsu has evolved into what many consider the most profound development in bodywork in our time and the world's first form of Aquatic Bodywork.
WATSU® practiced in a warm water pool (ideally 35° C) promotes deep relaxation by calming the sympathetic and boosting the parasympathetic nervous systems. It is therapeutically effective for neuromuscular injuries, stress, chronic pain, and special needs. The combination of warm water, unconditional support, and a holistic approach to treating the body fosters a safe environment for individuals to connect with all levels of their being.
